Anti-ageing Skin Care Routine with Frankincense Essential Oil
With my mid thirties creeping up on me I becoming much more aware of the little wrinkles creeping in… noooo…. Whilst one part of my brain goes, anti-ageing quick, give me all the products! There is an even bigger part of me that is moving towards removing all toxins and chemicals from all aspects of my life. This in a huge part is from my skincare and makeup. The reason for this is because our skin is the largest organ in our body. So anything you put on your skin will get absorbed into your blood stream. So why would you want to put these heavy chemical laden products into your body? My short answer is “I don’t want to”. This is what bring me to Frankincense. Frankincense essential oil is known as the King of Oils, it is not the cheapest but it’s uses make you realise just why this oil is so incredible. The oil is made from the Boswellia tree resin which doTERRA source from Somalia, how cool is that?
Frankincense essential oil is a powerful astringent which means it protects skin cells. Frankie (as he is affectionately known) can help shrink the appearance of larger pores, prevent wrinkles and tighten skin which is why I am loving it in my anti-ageing skin care routine. This oil can be applied neat, but I would do a skin patch test first just in case. I make up my blend and gently pat it into my skin on my face and all down my neck and chest and let it absorb before I put on any makeup. (Always look after the skin on your chest ladies).
The way I use it is part of a skin care routine especially at the moment for my dry Winter prone skin. I won’t have my skin care this heavy in Summer.
MISS CHEW Anti-ageing Skin Care Blend
Small amount Weleda Skin Food A few drops of Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil 1-2 drops of doTERRA Frankincense oil 1-2 drops of doTERRA Lavender oil
What have I noticed? Everything! Since using this blend, I started with just Frankie then I added in Lavender, my skin is smoother, my lines have faded considerably, my skin is brighter, I swear it is glowing. My acne and facial scarring has lessened as well, honestly. I cannot RAVE about this combo enough! Lavender really works on the skin as well. One of it’s main uses is on burns as it really works to repair the skin! Crazy right? Not just for calming you down and helping you sleep. This is why I love these oils! I also really love the idea of having a no-tox approach to my skin care and really my whole environment and so this type of skincare really sits well with my philosophy. Natural ingredients, straight from mother nature herself. Plus once I put this combo onto my skin I then cup my hands over my nose and mouth and take a few deep breaths in and just sit with and relax to the beautiful calming scents, my skincare becomes a much more holistic experience as I start my day or get ready for bed. Not rushing, just taking that moment for myself.

When it comes to what brand essential oils I use, I only ever use and recommend doTERRA essential oils. In my opinion, these are the highest grade and quality, other oils contain fillers and I do not trust to put them in or on my body. I always do need to say at the end of any of my posts about doTERRA essential oils, is that the oils themselves are Certified Therapeutic Graded Oils and they do say that are safe to consume BUT as I am going to be a qualified Naturopath I am not able to officially recommend you consume them. I know I personally do but this is just something I need to mention each time I mention the oils. So please use them at your own discretion.
Have you ever tried Frankincense oil before?
