Review: Black Chicken Axilla Deodorant Paste

The review today is a natural deodorant of almost cult status the Black Chicken Axilla Deodorant paste. I had heard people talk about this product for so long and was dying to buy it. For a while now I have made the switch from antiperspirant, aluminium heavy deodorants to natural based products. Your arm pits contain hundreds of sweat glands that expel toxins and help control body temperature, but that also means they can absorb toxins too. Also think about where those arm pits are, right next to the breast and lymph glands… Now I know a lot of people think there isn’t a link between aluminium exposure and toxic effects, but I would rather not put myself and my body through that risk. These days there are many natural options that you can choose from. The aluminium in the deodorant is the ingredient that makes them antiperspirant so that will be a trade-off, you will sweat some… so I will leave that decision up to you. But otherwise, for me, it doesn’t really bother me, these natural ones I have tried definitely mean I can go through a whole day no stinking though, so that to me is the most important part.

I actually purchased mine through (which is a great website, by the way).

What Black Chicken say:

Our unique blend of natural and organic ingredients target and effectively neutralise odour without harmful chemicals or sweat blockers.
This means your body can continue to do what it does naturally without smelling funky.

Their deodorant paste Contains only natural and certified organic ingredients and Does not contain harmful Aluminium Salts or compounds, does not contain alcohol, Parabens, Propylene Glycol, Triclosans or other harmful chemicals. This paste is also vegan friendly and not tested on animals and is Australian made.

So it’s a paste, huh? How does this work? So you get a pea sized amount, the texture is a little gritty and then you just rub it onto your arm pits. That’s it, it sort of melts into your skin, and feels nice.

Throughout the course of the day I do think I sweat a little less but there is no smell in sight, phew, and I don’t need to reapply. The smell is quite fresh and refreshing and I have really enjoyed this product. The paste contains scents of peppermint, cajaput, mandarin, clove, rose, geranium, lime, lavender and cedarwood. Great combination!

RRP: $18.50.

I buy my Black Chicken products from Nourished Life which is a fantastic hub for natural, chemical free products.

I definitely understand the hype now. Black chicken has quite a few interesting natural skincare products that I would be keen to try as well.

Have you tried natural deodorants before? What are your favourites?
