Think Dirty: How “clean” is your beauty routine?

Your skin is the largest organ in your body, did you know that? Anything you put onto your skin gets absorbed into your blood stream. Think about how nicotine patches work. So why would you want to put chemicals onto your skin? I heard someone say that when it comes to your skin care and makeup, if you wouldn’t eat it then why put it on your skin? It is so true, our skin isn’t a magical barrier, it’s a porous one. Lots of itty bitty holes which absorb anything that gets put on its surface. I know a lot of us have all started waking up to the chemicals that we are consuming from the additives and preservatives in our food and are starting to make the switch, but do you think about your makeup and skincare? The reality is, for many of us, we use several items of makeup and several items of skin care, at least, every single day, the amount of chemicals is just crazy. But ok, so how bad are the products you are using? How would you know? This is where the genius people from Think Dirty have come in.

This is an app, you can get on your phone where you can search each of your products and it will give you a rating and educate onto why this product is or isn’t good for your health. What you want is a rating as close to zero as possible, it also tells you whether the ingredients are clean, half n half or dirty. I find it fascinating and found myself going through everything in my cabinets. I would love you to try this. Education is king! I decided to make the switch to all natural products a while ago and still am switching certain products over. As something runs out, I replace it with a healthier, clean, product and my skin and my body is thanking me, everyday for making the switch.
